Hammond, Ind., August 10, 2001 - Cerestar USA has met the requirements laid down by the Indiana Crop Improvement Association to market Identity Preserved products. It also means that Cerestar has met the minimum standards of the Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies (AOSCA) Certified Identity Preserved Program.
The ICIA quality system is documented through inspections and auditing by agency personnel, including field production of raw material through to packaging of finished product in the processing plant. The purpose of the program is to ensure that the identity of a crop is maintained beyond the seed through commercial production in quantities required to meet the end-user's needs.
Steve Chastain, Cerestar's Director of Operational Marketing (USA), comments, "We are particularly pleased to receive this recognition of the integrity of our raw materials and products. This comes at a very important time, just as the new application laboratory at corporate headquarters in Hammond is officially opened. It is particularly rewarding for the team here, which works hard to ensure that we maintain extremely high standards throughout the production process."
He concludes: "This certification will further enhance our current development work on the commercialisation of several new products including Cold Water Swelling Starches, Erythritol, High Maltose syrups and New Pre Gel Starches."
